The tonsillar function has been studied by many authors, especially in 1860 when Virchow claimed that the tonsil has protectional action. In 1883 however, Kolliker reported that it had no functional purpose for the human body.
Reading enzymatic action of the tonsil, Li scher in 1926 reported that there are some enzymes ´-in the tonsil, and Marinelli Vesica in 1941 reported the titer of the alkaline phosphatase in the tonsil was greater than in other-organs.
In 1966 Saitto claimed that the L.D.H. level is also higher in, the tonsil than other organs: And Hirakawa et. al. reported that the protein fractionation of the tonsil was much more than of serum.
But some reports presented contrast to these reports in whcih L.D.H., alkaline phosphatase and protein fractionation was said to be so high.
Thus, we did the experimental study to determine whether L.D.H., alkaline phosphatase and acid phosphatase were increased or not in the case of chronic follicural tonsillitis. The present report concerns the recent experiments through amino acid and electromicroscopic observation.
